Battling Grease: 4 Top Tips to Effortlessly Clean Kitchen Cabinets

September 7, 2023 by BMA24

Grease buildup on kitchen cabinets is a common problem, particularly near the cooking area. Here are four effective tips for removing grease and keeping your kitchen cabinets in pristine condition:

  1. Warm, Soapy Water and Soft Cloth:
    • Mix warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap in a bowl.
    • Dampen a soft cloth or sponge in the soapy water.
    • Gently scrub the greasy spots on your cabinets.
    • Rinse the cloth and wipe down the cabinets to remove any soap residue.
    • Dry the cabinets with a clean, dry cloth.
  2. Vinegar and Water Solution:
    • Mix equal parts of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle.
    • Spray the solution onto the greasy areas of your cabinets.
    • Let it sit for a few minutes to break down the grease.
    • Wipe away the grease and vinegar solution with a soft cloth or sponge.
    • Rinse with clean water and dry.
  3. Baking Soda Paste:
    • Make a paste by mixing baking soda with a small amount of water to form a thick consistency.
    • Apply the paste to the greasy spots on your cabinets.
    • Gently scrub the affected areas with a soft cloth or sponge.
    • Rinse with clean water and dry the cabinets.
  4. Commercial Degreasers (Optional):
    • If the grease buildup is stubborn and none of the above methods work, consider using a commercial degreaser.
    • Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the specific product you choose.
    • Be cautious when using commercial products, and ensure they are safe for your cabinet material.

Pro Tips:

  • Always test any cleaning solution or method on an inconspicuous area of your cabinets to ensure it doesn’t damage the finish.
  • Avoid abrasive scrubbers or scouring pads, as they can scratch the cabinet surface.
  • Regularly clean your cabinets to prevent excessive grease buildup. Wipe down surfaces near the stove and cooking areas after each use to minimize grease accumulation.

You can effectively remove grease from your kitchen cabinets and keep them looking fresh and clean with these tips and a little elbow grease.
