Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans

For the Praline Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted

Instructions:

For the Cake:

  1. Preheat Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and flour a 13ร—9-inch baking pan.
  1. Combine Dry Ingredients:
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  1. Prepare Butter Mixture:
  • In a saucepan, combine butter, water, and cocoa powder. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
  1. Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients:

  1. Finish Frosting:
  • Fold the toasted pecans into the frosting.
  1. Frost the Cake:
