🍯 Honey Bun Cake Recipe 🍰

The flavors of a traditional honey bun combined with the simplicity of a cake mix make for a delicious delicacy called honey bun cake. This tasty and moist cake has a sweet glaze on top and is adorned with cinnamon and brown sugar swirls. It’s ideal for any situation and sure to please both children and adults. 🍯🍰

Ingredients

  • 2/3 box Betty Crockerℒ️ Super Moistℒ️ Yellow Cake Mix
  • 4 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup sour cream (8 ounces)
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease a 13Γ—9-inch baking pan and lightly dust it with flour, or spray it with baking spray with flour.
  2. Prepare the Cake Batter: In a large bowl, beat the cake mix, vegetable oil, egg, and sour cream with an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds. Increase the speed to medium and beat for 2 minutes, scraping the bowl occasionally.
  3. Layer the Batter: Spread half of the cake batter into the prepared baking pan.
  4. Make the Filling: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, chopped pecans, and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the pan.
  5. Add Remaining Batter: Carefully spread the remaining cake batter evenly over the pecan mixture.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 44 to 48 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Prepare the Glaze: In another small bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until the glaze is smooth and thin enough to spread.
  8. Glaze the Cake: While the cake is still warm, poke the surface several times with a fork. Spread the glaze over the cake.
  9. Cool and Store: Allow the cake to cool completely, about 1 hour. Store the cake covered.
