Add these adorable Cotton Candy Cookies to your kitchen for a little whimsical and nostalgic touch! These cookies are ideal as a fun treat or for gatherings because of their sweet, colorful, and somewhat chewy nature.
Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cotton candy flavoring (optional)
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup cotton candy-flavored candy melts or white chocolate chips
Pink and blue food coloring (gel preferred)
Directions:
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Add Eggs and Flavoring: Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract and cotton candy flavoring (if using), until well combined.
Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
Mix in Candy Melts: Gently fold in the cotton candy-flavored candy melts or white chocolate chips.
Divide and Color Dough: Divide the dough into two equal portions. Add a few drops of pink food coloring to one portion and blue food coloring to the other. Mix each portion until the color is evenly distributed.
Form Cookies: Scoop a small amount of pink dough and a small amount of blue dough. Press them together and roll them into a ball. Place the dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may still look slightly underbaked, but they will set as they cool.
Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
