As loving pet owners, we strive to ensure our animals are well cared for, providing them with the essentials: nutritious food, a warm place to sleep, and plenty of affection. Sadly, not all animals receive this level of care from their human companions.
In a heartbreaking case, animal control officers in Georgia discovered a Husky tied to a backyard fence, suffering from a severe open wound covering most of his neck. The dog had apparently been abandoned for days, left behind when his owners, Curtis Swan, 27, and Aaleyah Clay, 29, moved from their home in Roselle, New Jersey, to Sandy Springs, Georgia.
According to a report shared on Facebook, the couple had informed a neighbor that they were moving and would return for the dog, but never followed through. The Husky, named Carter by rescuers, was left to suffer alone.
Thankfully, Carter was rescued by animal control and taken to the Newark branch of the Associated Humane Societies of New Jersey, where he received treatment for his injuries. He was then transferred to an animal shelter in South Jersey for continued care. According to the shelter, Carter is now receiving daily laser therapy treatments for his neck wound, along with medications for pain and infection. The shelter shared that Carter is recovering well, describing him as a sweet, happy, and friendly dog.
Carter’s former owners are now facing animal cruelty charges and, if convicted, could face up to five years in prison. The case is ongoing, and updates will be provided as the legal process unfolds. Despite the cruelty he endured, Carter is now in a safe environment, receiving the care and love he deserves.
