These Chicken Fried Steak Bites are a fun and delicious twist on the classic Southern comfort dish. Bite-sized pieces of steak are battered, fried to perfection, and served with a creamy gravy for dipping. They make the perfect appetizer or main dish!

๐Ÿ“‹ Ingredients:

For the Steak Bites:

  • 1 lb cube steak, cut into bite-sized pieces ๐Ÿฅฉ
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour ๐ŸŒพ
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder ๐Ÿง„
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder ๐ŸŒฟ
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt ๐Ÿง‚
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ
  • 2 large eggs ๐Ÿฅš
  • 1/4 cup milk ๐Ÿฅ›
  • Vegetable oil for frying ๐Ÿ›ข๏ธ

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tablespoons butter ๐Ÿงˆ
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour ๐ŸŒพ
  • 1 cup milk ๐Ÿฅ›
  • Salt and pepper to taste ๐Ÿง‚

๐Ÿ“ Instructions:

1. Prepare the Steak Bites:

  1. Cut the steak:
  • Slice the cube steak into bite-sized pieces and season lightly with salt and pepper.

2. Bread the Steak Bites:

  1. Mix the dry ingredients:
  • In a shallow dish, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  1. Whisk the wet ingredients:
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
  1. Coat the steak bites:
  • Dredge each piece of steak first in the seasoned flour, then dip it in the egg mixture, and finally coat it in the flour again for a double coating.

3. Fry the Steak Bites:

  1. Heat the oil:
  • In a large skillet, heat about 1/4 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  1. Fry the steak bites:
  • Fry the steak bites in batches, cooking for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan. Transfer the cooked bites to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

4. Make the Gravy:

  1. Melt butter:
  • In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.
  1. Make a roux:
  • Stir in the flour to make a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.
  1. Add milk:
  • Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5. Serve:

  1. Serve the steak bites:
  • Serve the Chicken Fried Steak Bites hot, with the creamy gravy on the side for dipping.
