This Spicy Seafood Stew is a flavorful and warming dish, packed with a variety of seafood, vegetables, and a rich, spicy broth. Perfect for chilly nights or when you’re craving a hearty meal with a kick!

For the Stew:

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined 🦐
  • 1 lb white fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia), cut into chunks 🐟
  • 1/2 lb mussels or clams, scrubbed clean πŸ¦ͺ
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil πŸ›’οΈ
  • 1 onion, diced πŸ§…
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced πŸ§„
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced πŸ«‘
  • 1 jalapeΓ±o, seeded and chopped (optional for extra spice) 🌢️
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes πŸ…
  • 4 cups seafood or chicken broth 🍲
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine (optional) 🍷
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste πŸ…

πŸ“ Instructions:

1. SautΓ© the Vegetables:

  1. Cook the onion and garlic:
  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the diced onion and garlic, and sautΓ© for 2-3 minutes until soft and fragrant.
  1. Add the bell pepper and jalapeΓ±o:
  • Stir in the diced red bell pepper and jalapeΓ±o (if using). Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables begin to soften.

2. Build the Stew:

  1. Add the tomatoes and seasonings:
  • Pour in the canned diced tomatoes and tomato paste, then add smoked paprika, cumin, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
  1. Add the broth and wine:
  • Pour in the seafood or chicken broth and white wine (if using). Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

3. Cook the Seafood:

  1. Add the fish:
  • Gently add the chunks of white fish to the stew and simmer for 5-7 minutes until the fish is opaque and cooked through.
  1. Add the shrimp and mussels:
  • Stir in the shrimp and mussels/clams. Cover the pot and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the shrimp is pink and the mussels/clams have opened. Discard any mussels or clams that do not open.

4. Serve:

  1. Garnish and serve:
  • Ladle the Spicy Seafood Stew into bowls and garnish with fresh chopped parsley. Serve with lemon wedges on the side for an extra burst of brightness.
