For the Cake:

  • 🍫 1 box (15.25 oz) devil’s food cake mix
  • πŸ₯š 3 large eggs
  • πŸ₯› 1 cup whole milk
  • 🧈 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • πŸ₯„ 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Cream Filling:

  • 🧈 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • πŸ₯„ 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 🍬 2 cups powdered sugar
  • πŸ₯› 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • πŸ₯„ 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Ganache:

  • 🍫 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • πŸ₯› 1/2 cup heavy cream

1️⃣ Bake the Cake:

  • Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, mix the cake mix, eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and shortening until fluffy.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract, beating until the mixture is smooth and fluffy. Set aside.

3️⃣ Assemble the Cake:

  • Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread the cream filling evenly over the top.
  • Add the second cake layer on top, gently pressing to secure. Chill the assembled cake in the fridge for 30 minutes to set.

4️⃣ Prepare the Ganache:

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and heavy cream. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.

5️⃣ Frost the Cake:

  • Pour the ganache over the chilled cake, letting it drip down the sides for a beautiful finish. Smooth the top with a spatula if needed.
