🥧 Creamy Caramel Custard Pie: A Sweet and Velvety Delight ✨🍮

🛒 Ingredients:

For the Crust:

  • 🍞 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

For the Caramel Custard Filling:

  • 🍬 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 💧 1/4 cup water
  • 🧈 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 🥛 2 cups whole milk (or half-and-half for extra creaminess)
  • 🥚 4 large eggs
  • 🥄 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 🧂 1/4 tsp salt

For Topping (Optional):

  • 🍬 Whipped cream
  • 🍬 Caramel drizzle
  • 🌿 A sprinkle of flaky sea salt

🔥 Instructions:

1️⃣ Prepare the Pie Crust:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Place the unbaked pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish, trim the edges, and crimp them.
  • Use a fork to prick the bottom of the crust, then blind bake it for 10-12 minutes until slightly golden. Set aside to cool.

2️⃣ Make the Caramel:

  • In a heavy saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar and water. Stir gently to dissolve the sugar.
  • Cook without stirring for about 5-7 minutes, until the sugar caramelizes to a deep amber color. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
  • Remove the pan from heat and carefully whisk in the butter and milk. (The mixture may bubble and steam—be cautious!) Stir until smooth. Let cool slightly.

3️⃣ Prepare the Custard:

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, vanilla extract, and salt.
  • Gradually add the warm caramel mixture to the eggs, whisking constantly to avoid scrambling the eggs. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any lumps.

4️⃣ Bake the Pie:

  • Pour the caramel custard filling into the prepared pie crust.
  • Carefully transfer to the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.

5️⃣ Cool & Serve:

  • Allow the pie to cool completely to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
  • Top with whipped cream, caramel drizzle, or a sprinkle of sea salt before serving for an extra touch of indulgence.
