This Southern Cornmeal Hoecakes recipe is a classic dish that brings comfort to the table! These crispy-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside cornbread patties are perfect as a side for greens, beans, fried chicken, or even on their own with a smear of butter. A must-try Southern tradition!

Step 1: Mix the Dry Ingredients

Step 2: Add the Wet Ingredients

2️⃣ In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring until combined. The batter should be thick but spoonable.

Step 3: Heat the Skillet

6️⃣ Remove the hoecakes from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease. Repeat with the remaining batter.
