Ingredients:
For the Meatballs:
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
4 oz mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 large egg
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup onion, finely diced
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
For Baking & Serving:
1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
Extra shredded mozzarella & Parmesan for topping
Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat & Prepare
- Preheat your oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).
- Lightly grease a baking dish or line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
Make the Meatball Mixture
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, onion, parsley, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, and Parmesan.
- Mix until just combined (donβt overmix to keep them tender).
Stuff the Meatballs
- Take about 2 tablespoons of meat mixture and flatten it slightly in your hand.
- Place one mozzarella cube in the center, then wrap the meat around it, sealing the edges.
- Roll into a firm meatball and place on the baking sheet. Repeat for all meatballs.
Bake the Meatballs
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.
Simmer in Sauce
- In a large skillet, heat the marinara sauce over low heat.
- Add the baked meatballs and let them simmer for 5-7 minutes to soak up the sauce.
Serve & Enjoy
- Sprinkle with extra mozzarella or Parmesan and garnish with fresh basil.
- Serve over pasta, in a sub roll, or enjoy them on their own!
