Kentucky Butter Cake – A Buttery, Moist Classic!

This old-fashioned butter cake is soft, tender, and soaked in a sweet, buttery glaze that makes it incredibly moist. Perfect for any occasion, this cake gets better as it sits, making it a make-ahead favorite!

For the Cake:

  • 🧈 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 🍚 2 cups granulated sugar
  • πŸ₯š 4 large eggs
  • 🌿 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • πŸ₯› 1 cup buttermilk
  • 🌾 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • πŸ₯„ 1 tsp baking powder

For the Butter Glaze:

  • 🧈 Β½ cup (1 stick) butter
  • 🍚 ΒΎ cup granulated sugar
  • 🌿 2 tbsp water
  • πŸ₯„ 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Step 1: Prepare the Cake

1️⃣ Preheat oven to 325Β°F (165Β°C). Grease and flour a Bundt pan.
2️⃣ In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
3️⃣ Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
4️⃣ In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
5️⃣ Gradually add flour mixture and buttermilk to the butter mixture, alternating between the two.

Step 2: Bake the Cake

6️⃣ Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and smooth the top.
7️⃣ Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Step 3: Make the Butter Glaze

8️⃣ In a saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Stir in sugar, water, and vanilla extract, and heat until sugar dissolves (do not boil).

Step 4: Soak the Cake

9️⃣ While the cake is still warm, poke holes all over with a skewer or toothpick. Slowly pour the warm glaze over the cake.
