π§° Materials Youβll Need:
- π§’ 2 bottle caps (same size)
- βοΈ Scissors
- π₯ Soldering tool or heated screwdriver/fork
- π©΄ Your damaged flip flop
- π© Super glue
- π§ Styrofoam
- π₯ Lighter
- πͺ΅ Sandpaper (optional for finishing)
π οΈ Step-by-Step Instructions:
πΉ Step 1: Trim the Bottle Caps
Cut off the side walls of the bottle caps using scissors, leaving just the flat discs.
πΉ Step 2: Make a Centered Hole
Use a soldering iron or heated tool to poke a hole in the center of each disc.
π The hole should be just big enough to let the flip flop strap pass through snugly.
πΉ Step 3: Fit the Caps
Push the strap end through the capβs hole, then insert both into the broken hole in your flip flop sole.
πΉ Step 4: Secure with Heat
Use a lighter to melt a small part of the strap end (under the sole) to anchor it in place.
πΉ Step 5: Add Styrofoam
Place small pieces of Styrofoam on top of the bottle caps (on the sole side).
πΉ Step 6: Apply Super Glue
Drip super glue over the Styrofoam. It will melt and harden, bonding the strap and cap securely in place.
πΉ Step 7: Sand for Comfort (Optional)
Once dry, use sandpaper to smooth out any excess Styrofoam for a clean finish.
β Benefits:
