Stop throwing away flip flops! Restore them easily at home.
Materials You’ll Need:
2 bottle caps (same size)
Scissors
Soldering tool or heated screwdriver/fork
Your damaged flip flop
Super glue
Styrofoam
Lighter
Sandpaper (optional for finishing)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Trim the Bottle Caps
Cut off the side walls of the bottle caps using scissors, leaving just the flat discs.
Step 2: Make a Centered Hole
Use a soldering iron or heated tool to poke a hole in the center of each disc. The hole should be just big enough to let the flip flop strap pass through snugly.
Step 3: Fit the Caps
Push the strap end through the cap’s hole, then insert both into the broken hole in your flip flop sole.
Step 4: Secure with Heat
Use a lighter to melt a small part of the strap end (under the sole) to anchor it in place.
Step 5: Add Styrofoam
Place small pieces of Styrofoam on top of the bottle caps (on the sole side).
Step 6: Apply Super Glue
Drip super glue over the Styrofoam. It will melt and harden, bonding the strap and cap securely in place.
Step 7: Sand for Comfort (Optional)
Once dry, use sandpaper to smooth out any excess Styrofoam for a clean finish.
Benefits:
Stronger than nails or traditional repairs
Saves money (no need to buy new flip flops)
Eco-friendly: reduces waste
Super durable and long-lasting
Pro Tip:
Use this method on both flip flops for balance and comfort. You’ll hardly notice the fix—and they might last longer than a brand-new pair!
