This Quick and Tasty Chana Masala brings all the warmth and spice of Indian cuisine in a fast and fuss-free way. With chickpeas simmered in a fragrant tomato-based sauce, it’s rich in flavor, naturally vegan, and perfect with rice or naan. 📝 Ingredients:

  • 🥫 2 cans (15 oz each) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 🧅 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 🧄 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 🧅 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 🍅 1 (14 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 🌶️ 1–2 tsp garam masala
  • 🌿 1 tsp cumin
  • 🌿 ½ tsp turmeric
  • 🌶️ ½ tsp chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 🧂 ¾ tsp salt, or to taste
  • 🛢️ 2 tbsp oil (vegetable or coconut)
  • 🍋 Juice of half a lemon
  • 🌱 Fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • 💧 ½ cup water or vegetable broth, as needed

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1️⃣ Sauté Aromatics

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden, about 5–7 minutes. Stir in garlic and ginger and cook 1 minute more.

2️⃣ Add Spices & Tomatoes

Add cumin, turmeric, chili powder, and garam masala. Stir until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Pour in crushed tomatoes and let simmer for 5 minutes to thicken.

3️⃣ Add Chickpeas & Simmer

Stir in chickpeas and ½ cup water or broth. Season with salt. Simmer uncovered for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is thick and flavorful.

4️⃣ Finish with Lemon & Herbs

Stir in lemon juice. Taste and adjust seasoning. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
