Discover the ideal balance of textures and flavors in each delectable bite.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 bell peppers (assorted colors), sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Optional garnish: sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds

Instructions:

1. Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and black pepper. Allow it to marinate for at least 15-20 minutes.

2. Sear the Beef: In a wok or large skillet, heat vegetable oil over high heat. Add the marinated beef and quickly stir-fry until it’s seared and cooked to your desired level of doneness. Transfer the beef to a plate.

3. Sauté the Aromatics: In the same wok or skillet, add a bit more oil if needed. Sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, then add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender.

4. Combine the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the hoisin sauce with a splash of water to create a sauce. Pour the sauce over the sautéed vegetables and toss to coat evenly.

5. Return the Beef: Add the seared beef back into the wok and stir-fry with the vegetables for an additional minute or two. This allows the flavors to meld.

6. Garnish and Serve: Transfer the Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions to a serving platter. Garnish with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds for a touch of freshness and crunch.

7. Relish the Stir-Fry Magic: Enjoy the dynamic interplay of tender beef, vibrant bell peppers, and the subtle sweetness of sautéed onions in this enticing Chinese dish. Each forkful is a celebration of authentic flavors and the art of stir-frying.
