Perfect Chicken Parmesan Recipe for Beginners

This easy Chicken Parmesan is crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and topped with a rich tomato sauce and gooey melted cheese. A beginner-friendly restaurant-quality dish!

🛒 Ingredients

  • 🍗 2 large chicken breasts, halved into 4 cutlets
  • 🧂 Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 🍞 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Panko)
  • 🧀 ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 🥚 2 eggs, beaten
  • 🌿 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 🍅 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 🧀 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 🧀 ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • 🥄 ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 🛢 ½ cup olive oil (for frying)
  • 🌿 Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Chicken

  • Slice the chicken breasts in half horizontally to make 4 thinner cutlets.
  • Season with salt & pepper.

2️⃣ Coat the Chicken

  • Set up a dredging station:
  • Bowl 1: Flour
  • Bowl 2: Beaten eggs
  • Bowl 3: Mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning.
  • Dip each chicken piece in flour, then egg, then coat with breadcrumb mixture.

3️⃣ Fry the Chicken

  • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Cook chicken 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. (Don’t overcrowd the pan!)
  • Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.

4️⃣ Assemble & Bake

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place fried chicken in a baking dish.
  • Top each piece with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan.
  • Bake for 15 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and melted.

5️⃣ Serve & Enjoy

  • Garnish with fresh basil or parsley.
  • Serve with pasta, garlic bread, or a side salad!
